The APC Exudes Confidence in Tackling the Political Turmoil in Rivers State
On January 11, 2026, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, a key figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed unwavering optimism regarding President Bola Tinubu’s capability to navigate the current impeachment threats facing Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Adediran emphasized that the robust leadership and effective conflict-resolution mechanisms of the APC will play a crucial role in this situation.
But here's where it gets controversial... The ongoing political strife, which has its roots in allegations of misconduct against both Governor Fubara and his deputy, is intertwined with the contentious relationship between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Adediran, also known as Jandor and the 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, shared these insights after participating in an APC e-registration event at Ward G in Irewe, located in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos.
He firmly believes that President Tinubu will succeed in restoring stability and averting further political unrest in Rivers State. Adediran distinguished the APC from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by stating, "Unlike the PDP, the APC boasts a strong leadership framework and a transparent process for resolving disputes, anchored by President Tinubu. When impeachment was first discussed under the PDP, I was genuinely concerned for the governor because that party lacks a coherent structure and effective leadership."
"The APC is distinctly different from the PDP. We have a clear hierarchy and a well-defined leadership structure. We understand where accountability lies," he added confidently. Adediran expressed his belief that President Tinubu will be instrumental in orchestrating a peaceful resolution to the crisis, highlighting that the president has already initiated discussions with both Governor Fubara and Minister Wike regarding the issues at hand. He urged residents of Rivers State, as well as members of the APC, to maintain their composure, reassuring them that the party’s leadership is committed to fostering peace and ensuring political stability.
And this is the part most people miss... In the backdrop of this political drama, the APC is determined to withstand any internal conflicts that might mirror the turmoil experienced by the PDP. The party has firmly rallied behind Governor Fubara, vowing to prevent destabilizing influences from taking root within its ranks. This commitment was articulated by the APC spokesperson, Darlington Nwuju, during an interview on Arise Television, where he asserted that any political crises will be resisted vigorously.
As this situation continues to unfold, one cannot help but wonder: Can the APC truly maintain its unity and resolve amidst such intense political pressures? Or are they merely postponing the inevitable? We invite you to share your thoughts—do you agree with Adediran's assessment of the APC's leadership capabilities, or do you see potential pitfalls ahead?
